Over Carmen Perpetuum

Carmen is a guest teacher from the Netherlands who has been flowing since 2018. Her journey began when she stumbled across a hoopdance video on Instagram and immediately knew she had found something special.

Around the same time, a roommate introduced her to the work of Ido Portal, sparking a deep interest in movement culture. She trained extensively in Amsterdam, developing her floorwork, handstands, mobility, strength, and adaptability. These skills continue to shape her flow today.

Starting with hoopdance, Carmen spent countless hours practicing in parks and, occasionally, breaking things in her student flat. In 2022, attending De Circustuin retreat opened the door to the wider world of flow arts and fire. From there, she became a regular at Amsterdam fire jams, moved into a flow arts house, and began performing.

Today, Carmen's main props are hoops, fans, dragon staff, and poi. Alongside flow, she works as a Learning & Development Consultant, and her passion for learning strongly influences her teaching. She focuses on meeting students where they are, adapting to their needs, and creating a supportive environment for growth.

For Carmen, flow arts is about reconnecting with your inner child, embracing yourself, and building meaningful connections with others.
