Odile Vermeulen DocentOver Curious Sparkle
I am known for my danciness when flowing and being fully present. I show what's alive in me and express who I am through my flow. I do also take the audience with me on this trip. Not only by making eye contact, but by making shows with a story, a logical build up and accompanying music and outfits.
My classes are a playground for you to learn and explore with your flow. They help you experiment, connect with yourself, and bring more of you out in your flow. My classes will leave you with knowledge, inspiration, and playful exercises to continue exploring and further developing your flow. Music plays an important role in my classes.
Teacher bio: Curious Sparkle, also known as Odile Vermeulen (she/her), is a flow artist based in Amsterdam whose work is rooted in expression, presence, and connection. Her journey into flow arts began in 2019 at a festival, where she unexpectedly discovered hula hooping. A big surprise because as a child she could never do it. A seed was planted and just needed some time to grow into a creative path. Although she started hooping more consistently in 2021, her relationship with flow truly expanded in 2025 after attending Flow Arts Nepal. There, she found a warm and inspiring community that made flow arts feel like home. Since then, she has been exploring multiple props, including fire, and has become increasingly active in performing, teaching, and participating in festivals and jams. Long before picking up props, Odile was already a mover. Dance has been part of her life since her teenage years, starting in urban styles in which she performed, battled, and trained with a crew. Over time, her focus shifted toward more explorative and improvisational forms of dance, which became a powerful tool for emotional expression and personal growth. Alongside this, she has been practicing capoeira since the age of 19, occasionally teaching classes and ongoingly deepening her understanding of rhythm, movement, and play. Movement, in all its forms, has always been her way of processing emotions, finding balance, and reconnecting with herself. Today, Odile flows with hula hoops, fans, pixel whip, and various fire props. Her style is known for its danciness and authenticity—she moves from what is alive within her in the moment, creating performances that feel genuine and engaging. She often builds her acts as a journey, combining music, movement, costume, and storytelling to create a connection with her audience and invite them into her world. Flow arts, for Odile, is both a creative escape and a space to shine. It has given her confidence, joy, and a sense of belonging, as well as meaningful friendships and experiences across different places and communities. It is a space where she can play, explore, and continuously evolve. As a teacher, Odile creates classes that feel like a playground for exploration. She offers a safe and supportive environment where students are encouraged to experiment, connect with themselves, and develop their own unique flow. Her classes are beginner-friendly and guided by music, helping students not only to learn new skills but also to discover more freedom and expression in their movement. Come to Odile’s class and leave with a flow that feels more like you: more free, more playful, and more alive.
